Children's Ministry

St. Andrew’s is pleased to offer the following ministries to our families with children and youth:

Children’s Ministry (see below)

Vacation Bible School (link)

Youth Group (link)

We believe that the future of Christ’s Church rests on the spiritual development of our youngest members and earnestly pray that the efforts put forth in these ministries will be blessed by our Lord.

Our Nursery is staffed with loving, professional, certified childcare workers adjacent to our amazing playground. It is open during all Sunday services. September through May, it is also available on Wednesday nights during our Food for the Soul programs and on Thursday nights during choir rehearsals.

Sunday Morning Children’s Ministries

Faith in Action Sunday School (9:15-10:15 am) Meets in the nursery.  Created for kids PK – 5th, it is a time packed with Bible stories, crafts, Bible verses and other fun activities such as playground time. A snack will be provided.

Children’s Chapel (10:30 am) Meets initially in the church sanctuary (see below).  All children are welcome to explore the gospel lesson along with elements of our rich Episcopal traditions in a hands on way during Children’s Chapel. This time includes an age appropriate “homily,” music, and crafts or games based upon the day’s lectionary readings. Children’s Chapel helps kids gain a greater understanding of the liturgy and helps teach them a sense of reverence as they grow in their relationship with God.

How Children’s Chapel works: All children begin the service with their parents. Then the children, including child acolytes, meet at the back of the church during the sequence hymn. (Parents are welcome and may be needed to ease the comfort of the small children.) Children then process out with their own processional cross to the chapel.  The children will re-enter the sanctuary before communion. When they see their parents, children will file into the appropriate row or sit as a group at the back of the church. Essentially, children’s chapel occurs while the rest of the congregation is listening to the homily and participating in some other lengthy portions of the service.

Youth Group:  Grades 7-12 meets every Wednesday from 6-8pm – see youth ministry page for details

How You Can Volunteer:

Children’s Ministry registration forms are located in the lobby. Volunteer opportunities are on the backside of the form. We need help with everything from baking, sewing pageant costumes and Powerpoint creators to Bible story presenters and nursery volunteers.  Volunteers who regularly work with children must agree to training, background checks, and generally are known to the congregation for at least a year. Please contact Nancy Guyer,, or the Church Office at (772) 461-5009 with any questions.
